Young care leavers in the UK

One of the cases we helped with this week was for a young man, in his early twenties, who had been in the care system since starting secondary school. Leaving foster care at 18, he had been struggling to cope, living independently. Dealing with the finances of just staying alive and keeping a roof over your head can be daunting for most people, but like many young people, this young man had to deal with this alone. He sensed that his life was descending along a path he no longer wished to walk on, so he sought help. That person requested we help him as he struggled to buy food. We were able to send him £40 to buy some groceries. The person we spoke to had this to say to you all – “Please pass on our thanks to your donors, it does make such a difference to this young man to get a little help to alleviate his very challenging financial situation.” So, see – you did that, thank you.
